Total cooking time: 11 minutes
Serves 2
Ingredients for 2 people:
Frozen gyoza pastry
50 g Chinese cabbage
½ small spring onion (Chinese)
½ clove of garlic
¼ tbsp chopped fresh ginger
50 g minced pork
50 g minced beef
1.5 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp sake
5 drops sesame oil
For the sauce:
4 tbsp soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp water
½ tbsp toasted sesame seeds
Sesame oil for cooking the gyoza dumplings.
Optional
You can make vegetarian gyoza dumplings by replacing the meat with prawns or other seafood.
Preparation:
Finely chop the cabbage, spring onion, garlic and ginger and mix with the minced beef and the rest of the ingredients: sake, sesame oil and soy sauce. Leave to rest for an hour in the fridge.
Place a spoonful of filling in the centre of the gyoza pastry disc. Fold it in half – like a pasty – and seal it by moistening the edges with water. Make several ‘pinch’ folds on one side to seal the pastry.
Add a dash of sesame oil to the rice cooker. Place the filled pastry on top. Close the lid and press Cook.
Wait 4 minutes and add (1/4 blue cup) of water. Replace the lid and press Cook.
Cook for 7 minutes.
For the sauce: mix all the ingredients together.
Serve the gyozas with the sauce.
